The Castlemaine & District Cricket Association has deep roots in the heart of Victoria’s goldfields. Formed in the wake of the gold rush era of the 1850s, cricket quickly became a cornerstone of community life across Castlemaine and its surrounding districts. What began as friendly matches between miners and townsfolk has grown into a thriving competition that continues to bring people together more than 170 years later.
Over the decades, our Association has seen generations of players take to the field — from junior cricketers taking their first swing, to seasoned club legends who’ve helped shape the game locally. Today, we’re proud to host competitions for juniors, seniors, and women, with nine clubs proudly carrying forward the spirit and tradition of local cricket.
Our story is one of passion, resilience, and community — and it’s far from over.
